The world of bridal hair accessories….

Throughout my years in the bridal hairstyling world, I have had the opportunity to work with a vast amount of different hair accessories. As a result, I have gained considerable knowledge of what’s available on the market nowadays, and which ones are perfect for your bridal look. From hairpins to headbands, tiaras and veils, I’ve seen it all.

In this blog, I will be sharing my expert knowledge with you and taking a closer look at some of the trending accessories brides can use to transform their hairstyle into a work of art.

First up, clay flowers, one of my favorites, these are a popular choice for brides who want a subtle and delicate touch on their hair. These flowers are made of clay and can come in a range of colors and sizes to match the theme of the wedding. They can be attached to hairpins, clips or headbands.

Pins are another versatile accessory for brides who want a touch of sparkle on their hair. They come in various sizes, shapes, and designs, with some featuring delicate crystals, pearls or metallic finishes. These hairpins can be used to create an elegant updo or to hold hair in place.

Headbands have become increasingly popular as they create a bold and statement look. They can come in a range of styles from thin and delicate to chunky and embellished. Headbands can be worn with hair up or down, and they can match the theme of the wedding, the bride’s dress or add a pop of colour.

Tiaras are the ultimate bridal hair accessory if you really would like to feel like a princess on your big day! They can be worn with both up and down hairstyles and be the statement piece of your outfit. Real tiaras used to be embellished with precious stones, but nowadays the bridal ones can be made with rhinestones, crystals, or fake pearls which still look incredible and can come in various styles, from classic princess to Bohemian chic.

Flowers are a popular choice for brides who want a natural and whimsical touch on their hair. These flowers can be fresh or artificial, and they come in an array of colours and sizes. Some brides opt for a single flower, while others prefer arrangements or even flower crowns, which have also become increasingly popular. My personal advice if you want flowers is get your florist and bridal hairstylist in touch to make sure the right pins or comb and sizes of the flowers are matched with the chosen hairstyle. One of my favourite ways to attach flowers is by being given a small selection of flowers that have been used for the bridal boutique and freehand add them to the hairstyle created to complete the look, I would then pin them in and secure them to last all day.

‘My something old’ A vintage brooch or your grandma’s favourite brooch can add a timeless and glamorous touch to bridal hair. They make great hair accessories and can add a sentimental touch to your overall look. These brooches can be worn on the side, centre or back of the hair, if it’s the accessory you deeply desire then a hairstyle could be created around the brooch to make sure it works perfectly in your hair.

A piece of lace that matches the dress can be intricately woven into the hair to create an elegant and romantic look. This lace can also be used above a bun, or even on a headband. Hair vines and combs can add a delicate and intricate touch to bridal hair, particularly when woven into a loose updo. These can be made of crystals, pearls, or delicate wires with small floral, leaf or pearl accents.

Pearls are the ultimate classic and elegant accessory for bridal hair. They can come in various sizes and shapes and can be worn as pins or combs, or headbands. Definitely a timeless look.

Fake flowers or silk flowers are perfect for brides who want a natural touch on their hair that will last throughout the day. These flowers can come in an array of colours and sizes, and they can be arranged in various hair accessories. I have even come across hand made silk butterflies which add a whimsical bohemian feel to the hairstyle.

A ribbon can be a unique and stunning accessory for brides who want to add a touch of feminine charm to their hair. It can be used as a simple and elegant bow, particularly with a low ponytail hairstyle. The ribbon can be chosen to match the colour of the bride’s dress, complementing the overall look of the wedding. The bow can be tied in a variety of ways, including a classic bow, an oversized bow or a loose knot, depending on the bride’s preference. The ribbon can be secured with hair pins or clips to ensure it stays in place throughout the wedding ceremony and reception.

Adhesive gems are a modern and edgy touch to bridal hair. These gems can come in various shapes, sizes and colours and can be applied anywhere on the hair.

Finally, brush-on glitter is the latest trend in bridal hair accessories. This glitter can be brushed onto hair to create a subtle shimmer or a bold glittery statement. In conclusion, bridal hair accessories are an essential aspect of any bride’s look.

The right accessory can add the perfect finishing touch to a hairstyle while also complementing the dress and wedding theme. With so many options available, there is a perfect bridal hair accessory to suit every bride’s taste and style.
